Pecans taste great in soups, salads, muffins, ice creams, pies, cakes and other sweet savories, but did you know that by roasting them, you can bring out their flavor and make it richer? While pecans can be consumed raw, the taste of pecans become even better with a roast. Pecans are roasted in the oven, and even on pans over stove, or in microwaves.

 

Although roasted pecans are available in stores now, you can easily roast them at home for cheaper and more satisfying results. This way, they will be fresher and even more delicious. Here is how you can roast them at home in an oven:

 

Ingredients

 

  • Pecan nuts (any amount you desire)
  • A baking tray
  • Some butter (at least a tablespoon) – optional
  • Salt
  • Cooking spray
  • Baking sheet
  • An oven

 

Method

 

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

  1. For 2 cups of raw pecans, pour in 1 tablespoon of melted butter, and 1 tablespoon of salt, if you desire salted pecans. This step is optional.

 

  1. Line a baking sheet paper over the baking tray. Spritz the cooking spray over the sheet lightly.

 

  1. Arrange the pecans over the tray as a single layer.

 

  1. Place the tray in the oven and toast them for 5 to 10 minutes, or until they are aromatic. Keep an eye on them to avoid them from being scorched.

 

  1. Store the roasted pecans in an airtight container, and eat them as a snack or over any meal.
