There are glasses that have the perfect frame for your face, but their tint may be undesirable. So is it possible to remove that tint from the specs?
As long as the lens is not made of glass, removing a tint from eyeglasses is very easy. Tints are normally used in eyeglasses to protect the eyes from the scorching rays of the sun. But if you don’t want the tint on your glasses for any reason, you can easily take it off by following this guide:
- Ensure the lens is made from plastic, and not glass. Remember: Glass lens tints are irremovable. To check the material the lens is made form, cover it with a think cloth towel, and gently tap on the lens with your fingernail. If the lens makes a dull sound, it is plastic. And if it makes a louder and distinct sound, it will be glass.
- Remove the lens from their compartments with a screwdriver if necessary, or by applying slight pressure to the frame. If the lens have been installed through screws then gently unscrew them from the sides with a help of a screw driver.
- Clean the lens with distilled water or water from a faucet, to remove any calcium deposits built up on it.
- Purchase a lens dying, and heat it up to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Check the instructions manual for proper heating time.
- Fill the lens dying unit with the neutralizing solution or the bleaching solution, and place the lens in them, securing them from all sides.
- Recover the lens after a few minutes (not more than 10 minutes).
- If the tint hasn’t fully faded, redo the above steps.
