Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can load a GPX file of a sportive to a Garmin Bike GPS computer.
- First you have to download the GPX file from the website on your computer. There will be a link on the event website to download the file, or they may send you an email with instructions on downloading the file. Save the file in your desired location.
- Connect the Garmin to the computer with a USB cable, and check if the device is shown on the screen. You will find it in the My Computer icon on your desktop along with the other storage devices of your computer. The Garmin device will appear here as a separate drive.
- Copy the route to the internal memory or the SD card by double clicking into it or the SD card. Select the folder called Garmin in it and double click. There will be a folder called NewFiles. Copy this into the GPX file by dragging it from your computer to the NewFiles window. You can even copy and paste it.
- Now disconnect the Garmin device, and then restart it. There, you will find a new GPX file. Click on it to find a Courses menu. Tap on the Menu button and adjust the settings by tapping on the spanner icon. Choose the Turn Guidance option and switch it ON.
