Dihydrotestosterone (or DHT), is a hormone produced in hair follicles, adrenal glands (for both sexes), and testicles and prostrate glands (for men). DHT is similar to testosterone in that it plays a significant role in the development of female and male characteristics. A rise in the level of DHT leads to an enlarged and swollen prostate and hair loss. It leads to baldness due to the lack of nutrients and blockage of hair follicles.

The strategy to counter hair loss is by blocking DHT, which can be done by consuming certain foods.

Pumpkin Seeds

Eating pumpkin seeds is one of the best remedies for the prevention of DHT increase. The amino acids are high in pumpkin seeds, which slows the production of DHT. Pumpkin seeds can be consumed raw, or pumpkin seed oil can be used for treating prostrate disorders.

Green Tea

Green tea has EGCG, which blocks the formation of DHT. It also reduces the cells in the prostrate by stopping DHT from producing and promoting cell death.

Rosemary

Use rosemary as a as a hair rinse to unclog hair follicles. It increases blood circulation in the scalp, and aids in fighting against free radicals as it contains antioxidants. You can also consume it in food, or use its oil to massage on the scalp.
