Bushy eyebrows? Everyone hates them! No matter what the fashion trends say about thick eyebrows, plucking and shaping them has become essential for almost everyone these days. Eyebrows can be plucked, threaded, or waxed. Waxing is the fastest option for a long-lasting eyebrow shape. Although it may seem a bit intimidating at first to wax around the eyes, it isn’t as difficult or painful as you may think it is. With a good guide and some safety precautions, you can do your eyebrow waxing at home even better than a salon and also, save yourself a small fortune.
Learn how to do eyebrow waxing with the instructions given below:
Things you will need
- Waxing kit
- Tweezers
- Makeup eyebrow brush
- Popsicle stick
- Brow shading powder or pencil
- Small scissors
- Clean strips of cotton fabric
- Baby powder
- Baby oil
Instructions
- Wash your face properly with warm water to open up the hair follicles. This will decrease the level of pain when you wax the eyebrows. Most waxing kits come with a pre-wax cleanser. Use that over the eyebrows to cleanse them while washing your face.
- Tie your hair so that it is out of your face. Your forehead and stray away hair should be pulled back and pinned.
- Apply baby powder on the eyebrows to absorb excess moisture. The baby powder will also make the strips and wax stay in place when you begin waxing your eyebrows.
- Heat the wax in a microwave or on the stove. Follow the instructions provided in the waxing kit on the level of temperature. You must keep it warm enough to spread easily but not hot to burn the skin.
- Begin waxing, by starting with one eyebrow at a time. Apply the brow wax on the upper skin area of the eyebrows in a direction that follows the hair growth. Remove any wax that may drip over the eyebrow by mistake.
- Place the strip of cloth over it, leaving a little extra free from over the wax. This will be the part of the strip where you will be holding and pulling off from. Rub the other part of the strip on the area with the wax and let it settle for a few seconds.
- Now remove the strip with a slight pull with a slight pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Replace the strip if the hairs remain in the same spot.
8. Repeat the same steps below the eyebrows if you want to remove the small hair from there.
- Continue doing the same steps on the other eyebrow now. You can use a tweezer to remove any hair that is left as well instead of using the wax again.
- Apply moisturizer if you see redness. To remove any remaining wax on the skin, apply baby oil.
In case your eyebrows have redness or swelling, place a ice cube in a clean cloth and dab over the affected area. This will soothe the redness. You should also avoid wearing any makeup around the eyebrows for a few hours to let the skin settle down and pore to close as well.
