Losing weight is really exciting. You feel great about yourself, and there is a new energy which surrounds you. You get to buy new clothes as well. But obviously you can’t do a complete overhaul of your wardrobe. It not only costs a lot but it is impractical as well. Besides you don’t need to do that as well, when you can alter your clothes easily after weight loss. If you have a sewing machine and you have a little know how about sewing, then altering your clothes at home shouldn’t be a problem at all.

Things You Need:

  • Needle and thread
  • A tailor’s chalk
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Tape Measure

The Actual Process:

Iron the item of clothing (inside out) and lay it down flat on an even surface. Take a piece of clothing which fits you perfectly and measure it. Do write down the measurement for reference.

Now take the measurement of the clothing which needs to be altered and start marking the stitching area with a tailor’s chalk.

Now simply sew the area with a needle and thread. Try on the clothing item to see whether the fitting is right. Now sew the area with the sewing machine. Trim off the remaining area. Properly iron the newly formed seams.

Your item of clothing is altered according to your new size!
