If there is one thing which bothers me the most, that’s a runny nose! Winters are always hard for me as they bring allergies, congestion and runny nose with them. No matter how many flu shots I get every year, the problem of runny nose never seems to stop. Medicines also don’t work on it and I hate blowing my nose all the time. The only time when a runny nose stop being a botheration for me is when I started trying some awesome home remedies for them. A friend told me about them, and they are absolutely wonderful.

Take Steam

Steam is probably the best home remedy when it comes to getting rid of a runny nose. I noticed that once I started taking steam regularly, not only was my runny nose problem solved, but all the mucus present was cleared as well.

For taking steam, you should boil water in a pot. Bring your face towards the hot water and cover your head with a towel. Inhale the steam for at least 8 to 10 minutes. This will soften all the mucus present inside your nose. After you are done with taking steam, blow your nose a few times. Repeat this process twice daily and you will be fine within a few days.

Note: for more effective result, add in a few drops of methanol or eucalyptus oil in the hot water while taking steam.

You may want squeeze a lemon on it before sprinkingling salt on it too, not only it will hold the salt properly but also since lemon has all extra Vitamin C in it, which is proven to be best for running nose and flu issue.

Alternately, you can also make a ginger tea. Take a cup of water, cut a few pieces of ginger and boil them for a few minutes. Strain and drink the tea two to three times every day. Add lemon to taste.

Another method of incorporating ginger for getting rid of a runny nose is by taking steam of water infused with ginger root.
