Ear infections are a common problem in all ages. They are most likely to arise in children, as research shows that 70 percent of the kids in US have at least had one earache by the age of three. But adults too suffer from the excruciating pain in the ear. The pain is identified as a dull pain, or a throb in the ear, which can turn piercing then. 

 

Earaches arise due to infection or fluid buildup inside the center of the ear. Other causes of earaches include wax buildup in the ear, common colds, blockage of nasal passage, a growth of air pressure in the ear, and physical injury in the ear.

Serious problems should be medically checked, but there are certain home remedies that can aid subtle pains in the ear.

 

Compress with Heat

 

Heat is a good way to bring quick relief to ear pains. Apply a warmed washcloth over the ear for 15 minutes, and repeat two to three times. You can also use a how water bottle, heat pack, or hair dryers over the ear, keeping it at arm’s length from it.

 

Apply Lavender Oil

 

Rubbing lavender oil on the outer area of the ear a few times a day will soothe an earache.

 

Use Olive Oil

 

Drop a few drops of warm olive oil in the ear with a dropper, and plug the ear with a cotton bud. This works great in soothing earaches.

 

Rub Onions

 

Onion is a powerful food in fighting ear infections as it wards off bacteria. To reduce the inflammation of the ear pain, make a paste of onions and water and apply it on the outer sides of the ear.

 

Create Garlic Oil

 

Garlic boosts immunity and cures ear pain. Simply warm minced garlic in a few tablespoons of sesame oil. After his cools, drop some drops in the ear.
