Creating an email address on Hotmail is a simple affair, and it is a great way to be connected to your email, Xbox Live, instant messaging, and other Microsoft services – all together. With the new OneDrive, you can access all your files in your Hotmail inbox, via PCs, Macs, iPads, and Android or smartphones.
To create an email address on Hotmail, follow these steps:
- Go to the Hotmail Website
Go on www.hotmail.com. Here, you will see the page asking you to “Sign in” or to “Sign Up” an account on Windows Live. Click on the Sign Up button.
- Fill out the Sign Up Page
A sign up page opens after you have clicked on Sign Up. Fill this form according to your details, and the security information.
- Create Account Name
Enter a unique name for your account, and fill it in the Microsoft account filed space. Select @hotmail.com. Check the availability of the account name. With so many users on Hotmail, you may have limited options on choosing an account name, so opt for a unique one, and add digits.
- Choose a Password
Set a password then with at least 8 characters. Numbers increase security. The maximum number of characters you can use are 16.
- Fill in Contact Details
This will be asked so that if your password is misplaced, you can be sent an alternate password to it. You will be asked for your mobile number and alternate email address.
- Agree to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
At the very bottom of the page, you will find a box saying “Agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy”, which has to be selected.
